Signs You Have Squirrels
Scratching and rolling in daylight
Squirrels are active at dawn and dusk, not overnight. Fast scratching, running along the ceiling, and the sound of nuts rolling are the giveaway.
Chewed wiring and woodwork
Gnawed electrical insulation in an attic is a fire risk, and chewed rafters and trim widen the opening they came through.
Small round holes at the roofline

Frequently Asked Questions
How do I know it's squirrels and not something else?
Timing is the clearest signal. Squirrels run in the early morning and late afternoon and go quiet at night. Raccoons and rats are the opposite. Mice sound lighter and stay in walls more than in open attic space.
Will squirrels leave on their own?
Not once they have nested. An attic is warm, dry and safe, and females return to the same site to raise litters. Waiting generally means more chewing and more animals.
What is a one-way door?
A device fitted over the entry point that lets a squirrel out but not back in. Where it suits the structure it is the least invasive option, because the animal leaves on its own and the hole is sealed behind it.
Do you handle flying squirrels too?
Yes. Flying squirrels are nocturnal and colonial, so they behave differently from gray squirrels and often mean several animals in one attic. The inspection identifies which species you have.
Is the chewing really a fire risk?
Chewed wiring in an attic is a recognised ignition risk, which is why we look for gnawed cable during the inspection and flag anything that needs an electrician.
