Why We Lead with Exclusion, Not Just Trapping
Every job we take starts with a full home inspection. We walk the roofline, the soffits, the vents, the foundation, and the crawl space, and we photo-document every gap an animal could use. You get a written quote that separates the removal from the exclusion repairs, so you can see exactly what each piece costs and decide with real information. The inspection is never a separate charge.
We are honest about the trade-off: exclusion costs more up front than trapping alone. If all you want is one groundhog trapped from under a shed, that is a small job and it should be priced like one. What Humane Actually Means at Acorn
Humane is not a word we put on the truck because it tests well. It is a set of rules we follow even when they slow a job down.
✓ We never separate a mother from her young. Baby-season removals use hand removal and reunion staging so the mother relocates her litter herself, even though it takes longer.
✓ We use one-way doors and live traps, never poison-first programs. Poison creates dead animals in your walls and poisoned owls and hawks outside them.
✓ We tell you honestly what happens to the animal. New Jersey law restricts relocation for some species, and we explain the real options during the inspection instead of saying whatever sounds nicest.
✓ We follow NJDEP rules on protected species, including the summer maternity blackout on bat exclusion, even when a customer would rather we didn't.
That last point matters. A licensed operator who follows the law is occasionally the bearer of unwelcome news, like a bat job that has to wait for the blackout to lift.
