The township's edge habitat is the source. Erial and Sicklerville backyards that border the woods see the most den activity; Blackwood's older blocks see more of the transient lawn-digging, especially in early fall when grubs ride high in the soil and skunks are fattening for winter.

From May into June, a den under a structure usually holds a mother with kits, so we check before setting anything and remove the family together rather than orphan kits under your deck.
